Ok, so it has been a long time and still I haven't posted. Right now I will back up and explain a little bit about my last few days in Canada and my journey to South Korea.
My last week in Canada was a whirlwind of goodbyes in a number of cities including: Copper Cliff, Guelph, Markham, Kingston, Toronto, and of course, Wyevale. Thank you to Lin for a great Chinese New Year dinner; the rents and Auntie Wal for a Canadian last supper in Toronto; Jillie, Jode, Aunt Sharon, Sarah, Nansters, and all the rest in Copper Cliff for many laughs and much reminiscing; and the usual crew in Ktown for some great conversations and many revelations. Natalie and Sarah took me to Jack Asstor's in Markham for an illegal amount of dessert and the usual charm which I have always been so fond of (check out the pics of the desserts).
Packing was a challenging endeavour as a year is a lot longer than a week's vacation yet the airlines allow you only two bags...I will withhold my curses on airports and luggage...Sadly, I was unable to pack the kitten Rosie in my suitcase and am dying to get a pet here. The flight over was not too bad since I popped a pill 30mins after take-off and slept for about 8 hours. Upon arrival in Incheon airport I had to struggle with multiple bags, foreign currency, and phone cards that would not allow me to call Paul from the school to tell him when to meet me in Gwang Ju. *slight* panic in the airport but once I saw Amanda and Paul in the bus terminal in Gwang Ju all was well. Paul and Amanda took me to Kumho World, a VERY large electronics store with about 8 floors or some ridiculous number like that. We also went for galbi for lunch which is traditional korean barbecue that you wrap in lettuce leaves (pictures to follow at some point). I forgot about the Koreans' use of metal chopsticks instead of wooden ones and had an interesting lunch trying to use them...definitely *much* harder to use in some cases---Perhaps I will write about this little fact later...
My first day lasted for 24 hours since we went out to the bar that night. Surprisingly, I wasn't *too* tired and was really fine about it all. A million things have happened since then and it will take me a long time to catch you up on all of it, but I will slowly post random blogs about all things in Korea.
